Callum Nash, finalist for the Autocar Courland Next Generation Award, explains his idea, ‘The Opus.’ A new type of electric vehicle, and a solution for the problems faced by the automotive industry today. The idea was awarded in Autocar’s international competition in 2011, and features a new approach to the way batteries are design in electric vehicles, allowing battery packs to be charged easily in half an hour with current technology. The design also offers safety in accidents to motorcyclists, and a new approach to crumple zones in vehicles. In this interview, Callum explains his idea in Peasholm park in his home town of Scarborough, November 2011.
